Our Friday

Today, we dressed up as Spiderman before school and swimming lessons. Photobucket
Dropped B off at school and discovered that his picture made the 2nd page of our local parenting magazine. If I needed to smile today, all I had to do was open that book. Cracks me up! I still laugh when I look at it! Photobucket
Oh, AND registered for Kindergarten!!! Photobucket
Let me just tell you. I left there sooooo excited. I thought I'd be sad, but I guess it's the teacher in me. Smelling the copy machine, getting papers to fill out about MY kid, and a supply list... I was in mommy/teacher heaven.  The school looks great and reminds me a ton of my old school, AES.  I've been a teeny bit sad that I won't be teaching with him when he starts school.  I spent years envisioning that.  But I am really excited to be on the parent side for once.  Yep, I'm envisioning a PTA mom around here :)

{He would NOT let me take his picture in front of the school.  This is the best I could do.  I was hoping for another goofy one like above ;)  Oh well!}

Peepaw and Grandma Visit

My parents came in town to visit the weekend of Lawson's birthday. They live so far away, and we get really excited for their visits. My dad had a stroke at the beginning of the year, but you would never know it by looking at him or talking to him. I am so glad that he has made such a great recovery! Bikes and Registration

Well, B is back to riding his bike after The Great Fall of 2011. He normally rides with a helmet and shoes, but I happened to have my camera out when he didn't. He has gotten so good that he can ride around the neighborhood with me when I run or walk the dogs. Lawson is doing really well with his training wheels and can keep up with us for the most part. It's nice being able to enjoy the weather with their bikes now! They are TOO big! Photobucket Speaking of big, I am registering B for Kindergarten tomorrow. I. can. not. believe. it.  Seriously, I don't know where time has gone.  But when I envisioned getting pregnant and having babies, I never thought about them going to school.  Really.  I am in complete denial that this is happening.  B on the other hand, is pretty indifferent to the idea right now.  He has a huge group of buddies at school, and I don't think he's ready for them to be separated.  He picked going to his school tomorrow over skipping school and registering with me.  I don't like this growing up stuff.  If they could grow out of whining, crying, fighting, and fit pitching, but stay little, young, and cute, I'd be a happy camper!

Jeep Boy

When we got the jeep for the boys last summer, Lawson could barely drive it for a foot before he ran into something.  This year is a different story.  The kid is doing donuts down the driveway and trying to go out in the street to go mudding.  My neighbor was watching him the other day and said "He looks like the kind of kid who would drive a jeep."

Photobucket And I saw it. In an instant, my little boy turned into a shaggy haired 16 year old. Photobucket I could see the little guy coming home and begging for a jeep. Photobucket I'm trying not to let that thought cross my mind. For now, his little red firetruck jeep is keeping him just happy, and I want to hold on to that little boy as long as I possibly can. Our New Toy

We live about 2-3 miles from Old Hickory Lake. When we moved here, we had no idea that the lake was a recreational lake. We even sold Nick's fishing boat. Then we get here and realize that there's a boat dock 3 miles from our house! We spent last summer with a major itch for a boat. Nick... fishing boat, me... ski boat! So the weather started warming up, the boats started coming out, and we decided to take the plunge! Photobucket We picked it up after B's soccer game.  The boys were so excited to see it behind Daddy's truck.  I think it made them realize it was ours!  Photobucket My sister and parents were coming in town the next day. Luckily, Tammy came in town just in time to take the boat out with us. I am sooooo glad she did, because that meant she could back the boat into the lake. I was having panic attacks about it. She definitely saved the day!

Photobucket

She even helped Nick as he was learning how to drive it. A ski boat is not the same as his aluminum fishing boat!

Photobucket

Here's the inside of it. I'm foreseeing hours and hours laying out up front.

Photobucket

We went to visit it one day at the dock. B and L are so excited to go tubing.

Photobucket

Last week, we took it out and wore our bathing suits. B was determined to swim in the lake. The water was FREEZING. I even had to jump in and rescue Lawson. We will have to work on learning how to swim with a life jacket on because he was kicking AWAY from the boat instead of TOWARD the boat. Nick got to use Lasik as an excuse, so I was the lucky one to rescue the Lawman from swimming away with the fishies.   Fun times I tell you.

Lawson's 3rd Birthday Party

Photobucket
It would not have been a 3rd birthday party without a lot of Toy Story. Lawson spent his entire 3rd year obsessed with Jesse, "Hoody", and Buzz. His party was at Hoppity Hop, and it was tons of fun. It was probably the easiest, most laid back party we've had. Both Lawson and Briley had a great time! We were so excited to have Mimi, Mamaw, Papaw, and Grandma Payne in town.  Here's a little peek at our big guy's big day...Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket All of the Grandma's joined in on the fun! Photobucket Photobucket Someone had a little breakdown about 40 minutes into bouncing. Photobucket He didn't have a snack or milk after his nap before the party, and he was hungry, ready for cake, and ready for presents. Photobucket We had to do a little cheering up, and he was ready to play again. Photobucket Photobucket Finally, it was time to go to the party room! Photobucket His little reaction to everyone singing to him was about as cute as it gets. He loved all of the attention! Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket He was even happier about opening his presents. Photobucket It was a great little birthday party! Photobucket Happy Birthday big boy! I hope you had a blast at your party!
