Lawson's Hospital Visit

Little Bit had to go to the hospital last week :( He was having trouble breathing at home, so I tried giving him his inhaler medicine. (He has had one episode before, and the doctor prescribed an inhaler.) The inhaler didn't work, and he continued to get worse and worse. We went to the doctor's office, and they tried 4 breathing treatments along with a steroid shot. We went home for a couple of hours to see if they helped. When we went back to the doctor, she decided that he needed to go to the emergency room immediately.

So... Nick stayed home with Briley, and I took Lawson to Vanderbilt Children's. By then, it was about 7:45 pm. I expected to wait in the waiting room for a couple of hours, but we were seen in triage and immediately given a room. Poor Lawson had to have an IV, heart monitors, and a 3 hour breathing treatment and oxygen. The doctors planned on hospitalizing him because he still wasn't improving. Thankfully, around midnight, he started sounding better. The doctors wanted to wait 2 hours without any treatment to see if he stayed ok, before we got a room. By about 2:45am, he sounded so much better that they decided we could go home. We made it home at about 3:45am. Needless to say, it was a long and exhausting day for all of us, especially Little Bit. We continued the weekend with breathing treatments every 4 hours, but he is much better now.

It was so sad seeing him in a hospital bed. Notice, he managed to stick his thumb in his mask.

9:45am the next day, back to his old self, and getting spoiled by daddy with a sucker in the morning

We aren't sure if he has asthma or this is just a lingering virus, but we were really happy with all of the doctors at the hospital and very thankful that our baby is better!
